MATHS WEEK BEE BOT PROGRAMMING IN ROOM 18

For Maths Week 2018 we borrowed the BEE BOT!

It’s great. We worked it out by ourselves… how to programme it! On and Off! Sound! Forward, Backward, Turn Left/Right! CLEAR memory!

We drew a picture of our programme too!

Here is a video of BEE BOT moving from x to y following our programme!

This video was short enough to upload!

Next we used the same type of programme movements to get the Bee Bot to go to the Bank!

We did video this but the video is too big to upload. We need help to edit the video. It has to be shorter! So here are the photos instead. When the video is edited we will upload it!

Click on the BEE BOT to learn about robotics!

Click on MATHS WEEK 2018 to get involved!

Thank you Ms Wynne for editing our video so that it can upload!

THIS BEE BOT was programmed by:

Cillian, Luke, Luca and Finn from the 3rd Classes

GO MATHS! 🙂

THANKSGIVING! American Style Pancakes to Share with the Family and Friends!

Hello from ROOM 18

COOK WITH US!

THANKSGIVING PANCAKES!

Davey is really interested in reading about world histories!

Thursday was THANKSGIVING DAY in America.

Davey had read about the origin of this FEAST and told us all about the first THANKSGIVING of the pilgrims. We celebrated by making and sharing American Style Pancakes.

Firstly we watched this VIDEO!

American blueberry pancakes:

You can watch it too! We read the instructions on the video and watched the steps!

 WE WILL NEED

  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder & a pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 300ml milk
  • Knob of butter
  • 150g pack of blueberries
  • Sunflower oil or a little butter for cooking
  • golden or maple syrup

Method

  • Mix together the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.
  • Beat the egg with the milk, make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients.
  • Whisk in the milk to make a thick smooth batter. Beat in the melted butter, and gently stir in half the blueberries.
  • Heat a teaspoon of oil or small knob of butter in a large non-stick frying pan.
  • Drop a large tablespoonful of the batter per pancake into the pan to make pancakes about 7.5cm across. Make three or four pancakes at a time.
  • Cook for about 3 minutes over a medium heat until small bubbles appear on the surface of each pancake, then turn and cook another 2-3 minutes until golden. Cover with kitchen paper to keep warm while you use up the rest of the batter.
  • Serve with golden syrup and fresh blueberries

HERE WE ARE  AT WORK!

Click on the picture to learn more about THANKSGIVING! We learn so much when we explore educational books and websites

School Garden Jack O’Lanterns and Garden Soup made by the 3rd Classes

In 3rd class we collected the school garden pumpkins and made Jack O’Lanterns and Pumpkin and Leek soup.

All HOME GROWN @ SALLINS NS!

We gathered herbs for our soup at the Aquaponic Tank. We gave our the pumpkin seeds to Kevin to mind. We will plant them in the garden 2018

Some of us prepared the leeks and the spring onions (from the garden) for the soup.

Now we all worked together to make the pumpkin soup in 3rd class.

At Last…. we get to taste our home grown … home make soup.

Happy Halloween from the the 3rd Classes.
