DEBATING TRIP TO MAYNOOTH UNIVERSITY

on May 12, 2017

On the 10th of February the debating team (Orla, Sophie, Gillian, Conor, Ailbhe and Bernard) went to Maynooth University to watch the debating final. When we first arrived the hall was not available so we got a tour of the university first. After about half an hour we went to the Aula Maxima where the debating would commence.

The first debate was the plate final. The topic was ‘Should child labour be a necessity in developing countries’. The opposing team won this debate. The second debate was the cup final also on this topic. The proposing team won this debate. It was a very tight debate and both the teams had brilliant points. After the debate we were presented a certificate for our school and individually.

It was a great day and a good learning experience for the whole team!
