Patrick Monahan and The Irish Wheelchair Association

on March 16, 2017

Last Monday Patrick Monahan, the paralympian, and Katie from the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) came to visit 3rd class. First of all Patrick spoke to all the 3rd classes about how he came to be a wheelchair user and what life was like as a paralympian. It was great to hear his story and he really inspired us.

After that Ms. Cully’s class, along with Patrick went to the P.E. hall, where Katie met us. She brought in some wheelchairs and we got to do some basketball wheelchair drills and then we played a match. We had the best day. We now understand how using a wheelchair is not as easy as it looks.  A huge thanks to Patrick and Katie from the IWA for coming to talk to us! Check out our photos.
